WOW: Wine of the Week...Decero Malbec!

Top Wine of the Week (WOW) from Uncorked
Week of September 27, 2010

The last couple of weeks have been VERY busy for Uncorked!  At our WOW: Wine on Wednesday, with APB Beverages we featured four of the wines from their portfolio.  The featured wines were: Castello Monte Vibiano "Declaves" Brut NV, Castello Monte Vibiano Rosso 2006, Castello Monte Vibiano MonVi 2004, and Castello Monte Vibiano L'Andrea 2003.  Have any interest in these products?!  Please visit our site for tasting notes and pricing on these products!

It was wonderful to see all of the Uncorked clients...new and established...there to partake in our monthly complimentary wine tasting, complete with appetizers!  Wine on Wednesday is the perfect way to celebrate the mid-week completion on a month basis!  If you have not yet been, make an effort next month.  We'll give you plenty of notice and can promise that you'll have a good time!

This week, much like last, Uncorked is featuring a value priced wine that may very well be a new name to you.  Decero Malbec.  This is a single-vineyard Malbec for under 20.00 per bottle!

This is an 89 point rated wine from Wine Spectator and a best-buy as far as Uncorked is concerned.  This wine is perfect for red wine drinkers that are looking for something different.  Uncorked would characterize this wine as a "Starter-Malbec."  It exhibits a number of hallmarks of traditional Malbecs but without the high-alcohol content feel (the burning sensation most people do not like about Malbec).

With its limited retail exposure and low price, this is the perfect wine to buy as holiday gifts or hostess gifts for upcoming holiday parties.

As always, Uncorked has no minimums-order just one bottle if you'd like-but this is a wine that we are sure you'll love by the case!  Click through to WOW website page for the tasting notes and review from Wine Spectator on this wonderful Malbec.

Cheers!

WOW: Wine of the Week...Frog's Leap!

Top Wines of the Week (WOW) from Uncorked
Week of September 20, 2010
Featured Winery: Frog's Leap, Rutherford

It won't be long now and Uncorked will turn our focus to NEW releases!  Ahh...one of our favorite times of year!  Continue to watch the site for regular updates as well as our weekly WOW's: Wine of the Week for new releases and GREAT close-out deals!

This week though, we turn our attention to one cute little frog, the ambassador for Frog's Leap Winery in Rutherford.  Touring Frog's Leap was a REAL education on just what a difference one winery can make!  Frog's Leap is home amongst 130 acres of vineyards in Rutherford at THE historic Red Barn.  The Red Barn was built in 1884 as the Adamson Winery and finally renovated in 1994 as Frog's Leap's permanent home.  The building itself is quite a marvel housing all of their barrels and serving as an overlook on the vineyards and an impromptu tasting room if necessary.

While many recognize the now famous Frog's Leap Logo, few know that the property was an actual Frog Farm.  What do we LOVE about Frog's Leap?!  Their determined, unrelenting, take-no-prisoners Mission Statement:  "Frog's Leap will make a difference."  Frog's Leap farms organically, erected a LEED certified tasting room and hospitality center in 2005 and they continue to be protectors and defenders of the one thing we all have in common-our Earth.

While the day we visited Frog's Leap was plagued with clouds and rain, it was easy to see the care that has been taken to protect the land and indirectly the fruit that they are harvesting.  The rain brought out many helpful snails that we were careful not to disturb on our tour.  While "organic" is all the rage in wine now (shiny stickers are found on almost EVERY bottle now!), Frog's Leap's commitment is genuine and will endure.

Think that Frog's Leap may just be boring tree-huggers?!  Not so...currently they are working on a program to bring wine kegs to the market.  You heard it here first.  Keep your eyes on Frog's Leap!

Their website is a wealth of information AND fun to read through.  Bored at the office?  Head to their home page and help the Frog catch some flies!  The Frog's Leap wines jumped right into our hearts as we hope that they do yours.

Wine of the Week: Abudance Old Vines Zinfandel!

Top Wine of the Week (WOW) from Uncorked
Week of September 13, 2010

Uncorked is FULL of limited opportunities!  We have another AMAZING deal for our clients!  Although, please take note of the key word "LIMITED" as it relates to this offer.

One of our North Carolina distributors has just committed to a LARGE buy-in of Abundance Old Vines Zinfandel 2005.

Here are some of the highlights of the wine:  The palate is sound and sturdy with light notes of black currant and rhubarb berry pie.  There are lightly toasted tannins that frame a well balanced, sturdy wine with moderate alcohol with a lengthy finish.  Known as the quintessential Barbeque wine, this Zinfandel is sure to please into the Fall and Winter months.

Previously this wine has had a retail tag of 14.99 per bottle.  For a VERY limited time (first come, first serve people!) the Uncorked price for this wine is just 10.50 per bottle!  The special price and unyielding quality of this wine should well establish Abundance Zinfandel as an everyday favorite!

REMINDER:  THIS Wednesday (2-days from RIGHT now!) is our WOW: Wine on Wednesday!  This month Uncorked clients are invading The Residence in Southpark.  Join us on the 6th Floor overlooking Southpark to taste four wines from the portfolio of APB Beverages!  The WOW Tasting is an informal tasting from 4:30-7:30pm, stop in and celebrate the middle of the week with FREE wine and appetizers!  Our tasting is sponsored by MyCruiseOutlet.com.  Connect to their site to see how YOU could cruise with Uncorked in May 2011!

Check out our WOW website page for more information about Abundance Old Vines Zinfandel.
