WOW: Blakeslee Vineyard Pinot Noir

WOW: Wine of the Week

Pinot Perfect: Blakeslee Vineyard Pinot Noir

Blakeslee Vineyard Pinot Noir
Another NEW product to North Carolina distribution and Loyal Uncorked Clients...please welcome Blakeslee Vineyards!

This well balanced Willamette Valley Pinot Noir enters the market at just over $25 per bottle.  Very reasonable for an Oregon Pinot Noir indeed.

New to the market and new to you...try this Pinot Noir today.  It is the natural wine to help transition from crisp, refreshing white wines of Summer into the heavy, hearty red wines of Fall and Winter.  Keep this wine in mind when planning for  your Thanksgiving gathering (I didn't want to say it, but it IS just around the corner!).

Product Description

"Overall, the timing of he 2009 growing season was fairly typical for Oregon. A warm and dry summer gave way to several high heat spells in late August and early September. This pushed sugars up earlier than usual, but still required further time and patience to wait for flavors to catch up in the ripening process. Picking was is line with average Oregon vintages.  The Willamette Valley Pinot Noir released from Blakeslee Vineyard Estate, is 100% Pinot Noir, 49% pommard 49% 115, and 3% 777. All Chehalem Mountain, AVA." - Winery Notes.

Smooth Operator: Roblar Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Roblar Sauvignon Blanc 2010
North Carolina and Loyal Uncorked Clients, please welcome Roblar Winery to our family!

Roblar Winery has recently increased distribution into North Carolina and Uncorked had the distinct pleasure of tasting this gem just last week!

This is no ordinary Sauvignon Blanc, do not be fooled by its crisp packaging and aromas.  While this wine sees all stainless steel, it also incorporates aging sur lie.

What can you expect from the sur lie aging?  Wonderful nutty overtones and a Sauvignon Blanc that is not remotely acidic nor overwhelmingly mineral.

New to the market and new to you...try this Sauvignon Blanc today.  It is the perfect accompaniment to hot August days and ushering in fall.  AND, priced at under $15 per bottle, this will certainly become a new favorite.

Product Description

"Roblar Winery and Estate Vineyards is a special place.  Located in Santa Ynez Valley in the heart of Santa Barbara County.   Our wines reflect the diversity of Santa Ynez Valley, with an east-west transverse range that allows the Pacific Ocean a significant influence with near-daily fog and crisp ocean breezes.  This cooler climate leads to wines with firm structure, plenty of secondary flavors, and great potential for aging." - Winery Notes.

Product Description

"The Vera Story: 'After 12 years living abroad, I returned to my native Portugal. A friend in NY suggested I find some delicious Vinho Verde to send to the States. I told him if he came to visit me we would find it together. We started with a basic, yet eccentric idea, to offer an exceptional Vinho Verde.  Right before the 2010 harvest, we drove across northern Portugal in search of the Vinho Verde holy grail. We think we found it and invite you to decide for yourself.
VERA – meaning true, is a fresh and light as the maritime climate of northern Portugal. Drink it as my family does, chilled as an end-of-day relaxing drink, or as an accompaniment to light meals, like sushi and seafood, chicken, salads and pastas.'"  -Rui Abecassis and Bruce Schneider

Vera Vinho Verde Rosé 2011 Reviews

"The 2011 Rose is a low alcohol pink, just 11.5%. It is a blend of 60% Vinhao and 40% Rabo-de-Anho, with a dark, deep, attractive color. It is sourced from vines aged 30-50 years old. It is my favorite of the group. This is, to use a phrase I’ve been tossing around of late, a “waiter with the water” wine, a reference to the old Ella Fitzgerald novelty tune. That is, you know it really is not overly serious in a sense, but you get seriously addicted to it anyway simply because it is done so well in its style. Let’s put it this way--it will certainly be one of the first bottles drained at any picnic this summer, so I am leaning up a bit. This bargain priced pink is simply invigorating, crisp, refreshing and quite delicious, with the depth of a red and the acidity of a white. It delivers tasty raspberry notes to the palate. Vinhao reds can be an acquired taste, but this blended pink gets it just right. Those bursts of acidity enliven it beautifully, yet they are reasonably well integrated. Keep it well chilled. Knock it back. It is simply perfect for a hot summer evening on the porch. You may wonder why you didn’t buy a case. Drink now-2014." - 88, Wine Advocate

Product Description

The 24 hectares that make up Château Malmaison lies adjacent to Château Clarke and were purchased in 1973. Covered by the Moulis label of origin, this abandoned vineyard was renovated between 1974 and 1978.  Its special soil yields mellow, fruity wines with a distinctive yet harmonious character and a rich bouquet. The harvest is matured in new and year-old casks that confer smoothness, elegance and finesse – female traits befitting the Baroness Nadine de Rothschild.  Malmaison wine is best stored at a constant temperature of 12 to 14 degrees and should be brought up from the cellar several hours before serving.

Château Malmaison Moulis 2006 Tasting Notes

"Blackberry and raspberry jam aromas follow through to a full body, with very soft tannins and pretty berry and currant character. This is seamless and well done for the vintage. Best after 2012. 8,330 cases made." - 90, Wine Spectator
#84 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2009

Château Malmaison Moulis 2006 Tasting Notes

Only 8,000 cases produced. Light cherry aromas that follow to the palate. A classic style with more guts and tannin than 2005. A value! Definitely more classic that '05, this is very good. Inexpensive wine to age.

Château Malmaison Moulis 2006 Pairings

At an ideal temperature of 16 degrees, it provides an outstanding accompaniment for lamb, fowl and small game (partridge or pheasant, for example).
