Product Description

The deep roots of Beaulieu Vineyard were first planted back in 1900, when founder Georges de Latour noticed similarities with his native Bordeaux and declared the Napa Valley ideal for winemaking. Planting vineyards in Rutherford with grafted, phylloxera-resistant French vines, the Cabernet Sauvignon that de Latour crafted from these grapes gave the world a taste of California's promise as a world-class winemaking region. In 1938, de Latour hired the young Russian-French enologist, Andre Tchelistcheff. Today, Beaulieu continues to turn to innovative practices. Most recently, they completed a new state-of-the-art winery within one of their original buildings. The Georges de Latour Private Reserve Winery utilizes the latest technology in combination with time-honored traditions for the production of this exceptional wine.

Beaulieu Vineyard Reserve Tapestry 2012 Reviews

"The impressive 2012 Reserve Tapestry, a blend of Bordeaux varietals, is more elegant and slightly less intense than the Private Reserve. It offers up sweet black cherry fruit notes intermixed with licorice, spice box and dusty, loamy soil undertones. Medium to full-bodied and deep with loads of ripe fruit, low acidity and sweet, velvety tannins, it can be enjoyed over the next decade." - 92, Wine Advocate

Beaulieu Vineyard Reserve Tapestry 2012 Tasting Notes

"Considered a superb vintage, the dry, sunny growing season gave our 2012 Reserve Tapestry its opulent, dark-fruit character and plush-textured mouthfeel while five Bordeaux-heritage varietals contributed layer-upon-layer of flavor complexity. This is a wine that shows the artistry of the winemaker. Jeffrey chose Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the wine's core briary blackberry and cassis expression and its plush mid-palate structure. He then added Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec to complete the blend with nuances of ripe plum, rose forest loam and graphite." - Winery Notes

New Year's Eve 2015...Just 10 days away!
Roederer Estate Cristal Brut 2004
This Cava is awarded five "stars" in our eyes!  There IS still time to get your New Year's Eve Bubbles!  But do NOT wait any longer!  This is the crowd-pleasing, budget-pleasing bubbly you have been waiting to see!  And what could be better than an amazing story to share about it...

"Since 1987, every summer Castillo Perelada hosts one of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe. This cava is a tribute to all the artists who year after year honour us with their presence, shining like the stars of the Empordà sky under which they perform.
Wine has been made at the Perelada since the Middle Ages, as shown in several documents and parchments from the period to be found in the library. When Miguel Mateu bought this ensemble of monuments in 1923, one of his primary objectives was to revitalize the wine producing tradition, a tradition that is more alive than ever these days and which has incorporated the most modern technology to create wines that make full use of the nuances of the soils and vines of the Empordà." - Winery Notes

Castillo Perelada Cava "Stars" Brut Nature N/V Tasting Notes

Pale yellow colour, crystalline and bright. Its generous stream of fine bubbles forms a perfect crown. In the nose it is clean, with fruity notes, and some slight ageing notes. Dry, smooth and complex in the mouth, it has a great tasting balance.

If ever there was an appropriate time to have "Tenshən" in one's life - this is the kind of "Tenshən" that is appropriate!  Now, ShopUncorked.com is pleased to have both of the new vintages in stock for both the Tenshen White and Red Blends.  These wines are available in limited quantities - place your order TODAY!

Allow this Tenshən by Joey Tensley and Alex Guarachi to ease the real tension created by the holidays - and ENJOY!

Product Description

A collaboration between Alex Guarachi and Joey Tensley, tenshən white is a masterful expression of white Rhône varietals from Santa Barbara County AVA.  Tenshen is a play on words that nods to winemakers Joey Tensley and Alex Guarachi’s winemaking acumen and the tension that occurs when harvesting. Tenshen’s thought provoking Rhône blends are tenacious and alluring. The reds exhibit brooding dark fruit that is accented by Santa Barbara spice and completed by a mouthwatering finish.

Tensley "Tenshen" White Blend 2014 Tasting Notes

Aromas of tangerine and ripe melon lead to flavors of peach and apricot. Balanced acidity and juicy honeysuckle accent the finish with a hint of hazelnut.

Tensley "Tenshen" Red Blend 2014 Tasting Notes

Dark cherry, white pepper and spring floral aromas blend with dense blackberry flavors, sweet tannins and a juicy finish.  A Rhone sytle blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mouvedre, Petite Sirah and Merlot.

Pom-Poms for Pomerol!

Chandon Nautical Summer
This wine WILL make you stand up and cheer for Pomerol!  Clos Sainte-Anne is proof positive that there IS value in Pomerol!

Product Description

"Clos Saint Anne is the second wine of Château Moulinet.  It is 2km from the heart of Pomerol, on the route used by pilgrims on their way to Saint James of Compostela, than Château Moulinet is established, in the middle of its greenery frame. Its history is narrowly linked to the history of Pomerol, because it is one of the oldest estates in the area and also one of the largest.  In 1971, Armand Moueix took over the property. Since 2004, it has undergone unprecedented refurbishment both outside in the vines and inside in the cellars, including of course the vathouse. Here, the latest innovations blend with ancestral techniques, combining tradition and innovation. A straightforward and classic Pomerol wine, made by temperature-controlled fermentation followed by 12 months in oak barrels." - Winery Notes

Clos Sainte-Anne Pomerol 2010 Tasting Notes

This vintage reveals a beautiful deep purple colour. The bouquet develops ripe red fruits scents with light vanilla hints. The palate like the nose, expresses red fruits flavours enhanced by a round structure and giving way to an elegant finish.

Clos Sainte-Anne Pomerol 2010 Pairings

Bottled unfiltered, so best to decant before serving, with a hearty beef casserole.

John Anthony Vineyards

Chandon Nautical Summer
The Truchard family is VERY well known in California - their involvement in the wine industry began in 1887.  Since their debut in Texas (yes, Texas) making wine - the family has amassed over 400 acres of which 280 acres are planted.  It is no surprise that John Anthony (Truchard) would also continue in this family business.

Product Description

"John Anthony Vineyards was destine to become a reality. From early on in his life, John Anthony Truchard walked vineyard rows, brushed dirt from his knees, and picked grape skins from his fingernails. He was meant to create handcrafted wines while focusing on growing the best fruit possible. He knew he wanted to do it differently. Gone were the days of purchasing a forty acre estate, building a winery, and planting vines. He instead would lease select land, evaluate soils and microclimates, and plant only what would strive in the choice locations.
Today John and Michele Truchard own and operate this successful brand. They feature small vineyard sites from the Oak Knoll District, Carneros and Coombsville regions, and showcase their wines in the downtown Napa tasting lounge. They manage a small team of dedicated team members and push them to create something special with each and every client interaction. John and Michele have redefined the traditional Napa Valley experience with the introduction of custom vineyard tours, late night tastings, and an incredible line up of events." - Winery Notes

John Anthony Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Tasting Notes

The 2013 John Anthony Sauvignon Blanc is sourced only from vineyards I planted and farm here in the Napa Valley.  Fermented primarily in stainless steel and likely one of the last Sauvignon Blancs harvested in the Napa Valley the wine exhibits the classic ripe melon and tropical flavors you have come to love.

Chandon Nautical Summer
No longer can ShopUncorked.com hide this PHENOMENAL wine!  The 2013 is back with a 92-point rating from Wine Spectator and is priced competitively to find it's way into your home!

Product Description

"In 1999 Susana Balbo crafted a line of wines to showcase the ripe fruit expression of her sustainably-farmed Mendoza vineyards. The philosophy is a simple one: grow great grapes and make wines that are true to their place. Minimal intervention during the growing season and through harvest allows the true fruit character to develop. Combine this with Susana's winemaking skills and the result is wines that express the powerful fruit flavors, the ripe tannins and the incredible length and balance that can only come from this one place: Mendoza." - Winery Notes

Ben Marco Malbec 2013 Reviews

"A balanced and refined red with blueberry, blackberry and hints of cloves. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. Drink or hold." - 92, Wine Spectator

Ben Marco Malbec 2013 Tasting Notes

Beautiful deep purple color with perfumed aromas of ripe red fruits and roasted coffee beans. It is lush, full-bodied and penetrating on the palate with loads of chewy, currant jam flavors, bright acidity, and a touch of grip on the almost savory finish. This wine really unfolds with some air so try not to slurp it down in a rush, and it shows why the Argentine people are in love with Malbec. Some Bonarda was blended in for greater complexity and to achieve better balance.

Ben Marco Malbec 2013 Pairings

Pairs well with a wide range of foods including beef, sausages, spiced or grilled pork, veal, medium-strong cheeses, and meat-based pasta sauces.

Ringing in Fall Temperatures

Chandon Nautical Summer
It's official: Fall temperatures are here!  Our nights are cooling down and it is time to heat it back up with some new red wine favorites!  New to ShopUncorked.com is Chris Ringland Shiraz!  ShopUncorked.com is pleased to share this 90-point wine for UNDER $25 per bottle with our clients!

Product Description

"For the Barossa, Winter of 2012 and the build up to vintage 2013 saw a return to the normal conditions, after the exceptionally mild and wet 2011 season.
Ample subsoil moisture helped to sustain the vineyards during a relatively dry Spring, resulting in moderate vine vigor and average bunch numbers. Ripening conditions during the Summer-Autumn of 2013 were near perfect for Shiraz. Occasional rainfall events kept the vines refreshed. The grapes were healthy and sweet, with rich, ripe tannins. It was a relatively early vintage." - Winery Notes

Chris Ringland Shiraz 2012 Reviews

"Supple, sleek and appealing, with layers of black cherry, plum cake and sweet leather flavors slipping into a polished finish. Drink now through 2019." - 90, Wine Spectator

Chris Ringland Shiraz 2012 Tasting Notes

"The nose exhibits aromas of blueberry cobbler and ripe plum followed by dried cranberries, violets and rose petals. The palate displays layers of ripe strawberry, cassis, and vanilla." - Winery Notes

Chandon Nautical Summer
Loyal ShopUncorked.com Followers:  Are you seeing a trend?!  ShopUncorked.com is working VERY hard to bring some of the last remaining wines in their 2012 vintage to your attention - 2012 was a FANTASTIC year for wine and wine production - if you see it, stock up on it!

Product Description

"The 2012 vintage is our nineteenth release of Chardonnay and our first in a screw cap closure. We strive to strike a balance between fruitiness and complexity in our wines. Our goal is to always express the fruit of our vineyard first; why work hard in the vineyard only to mask the true beauty with cellar practices. Therefore, we skip malolactic fermentation.  Once harvested, we selectively use the tools we have at our disposal as winemakers to shape and complement the wine; surlies aging, and French oak cooperage, both new and old." - Winery Notes

Schweiger Spring Mountain Chardonnay 2012 Tasting Notes

"Our 2012 Chardonnay is a full bodied wine with true varietal characteristics, hints of pear, kiwi, citrus, and apricots, and delicate undertones of oak and tropical fruits.  The body of the wine is rich and supple, filling the mouth with flavors.  The true nature of Spring Mountain Chardonnay comes through in the mineral character, more reminiscent of a classic Mersault than your typical California Chardonnay." - Winery Notes

"Radicle" Wine - Literally!

Chandon Nautical Summer
This week's WOW REALLY lives up to it's name: It's "Radicle" for ShopUncorked.com to offer this 2012 (scoop up the 2012 vintage while you can!) Oregon Pinot Noir for just $21.45!

Product Description

"In botany, a 'radicle' is the earliest emerging root to develop from a seed, sending itself into the ground to create strength and take nourishment from the soil so that the plant will grow strong and spread its leaves. For wine lovers, 'Radicle Vine' wines are a tasty introduction to Lady Hill wines, delivering unexpected levels of quality and value that show what True Northwest wines are all about.  Radicle Vine wines offer rich flavors and robust character for satisfying drinking, by themselves or in pairing with fine foods. Radicle Vine wines are always an easygoing and affordable Northwest pleasure!
Lady hill works closely with a small number of selected Willamette Valley vineyards who farm their piont noir with exceptional care.  In some cases these are legendary vineyards, in other case they are more akin to undiscovered gems.  Both vineyards are represented in this wine. The core of this wine comes from Freedom Hill Vineyard, located in the Coast Range foothills. Owned and farmed by Dan and Helen Dusschee, Freedom Hill is one of the most respected pinot noir vineyards in North America. Added to this is pinot noir from the Hettwer Vineyard, a small vineyard near Silverton, Oregon that grows exceptional fruit. Together these vineyards produced a pinot noir of power and balance in 2012." - Winery Notes

Radicle Vine Pinot Noir 2012 Tasting Notes

"Deeply-hued, rich purple color with fushsia edges is the first thing to note in this wine.  Matching the depth of color, the aromas rising from the glass are full of dark berry fruitiness complemented by hints of baking spices and a foundation of freshly turned garden soil.  In the mouth saturated flavors of blackberries and black raspberries are broad and vibrant on the palate, with mouthwatering acidity.  There are accents of anise, graphite and dried basil in the background.  Tannis lend a firm structure, but are well-controlled.  The finish is long and lingering, with hints of mint and a lip-smaking tang at the end.  While this is a big-boned pinot noir with a forward character, there is also an elegance of balance that speaks of pure Willamette Valley pinot." - Winery Notes

These Boots Were Made For "Stompin'!"

Chandon Nautical Summer It is hard to believe but some wineries have already started harvesting their 2015 crops - in honor of these hard working men and women, ShopUncorked.com is featuring a Cabernet with a name that honors these hard working individuals!  At under $20 per bottle and with a 91 point rating - this is a wine that you'll want to stock up on TODAY!

Product Description

"This cabernet vineyard requires more work than the shiraz and it's become a favorite for the birds as the bunches ripen.  Stomper has his hands full indeed.  They work hard to stress the soils and slow down the ripening of the cabernet because it helps achieve the flavor we like so much.  Darren Owers the winemaker, reckons the cabernet is best in teh region and praises Stomper for the work he does in the vineyard.  The fruit is destemmed and pressed before going through a lengthy cold soaking.  After fermentation, it's macerated on the skins for about 10 days to extract soft tannins and deep, rich flavors.  There's never any short cuts on the barrel program and this wine sees only French oak, of which 25% is new.  Since there are several different parcels on the vineyard and they're always kept separate throughout the entire process, putting the final blend together takes several days and it a major team effort." - Winery Notes

Nugan Estate "Stomper's" Cabernet 2012 Reviews

"Brilliant ruby. Tight, sharply focused nose displays scents of blackberry, cassis, graphite and mint, lifted by a lavender topnote. Dense yet lively on the palate, offering intense dark fruit flavors that become sweeter with air. Supple tannins frame the incisive finish, which lingers with very good fruit-driven intensity." - 91, Tanzer

Nugan Estate "Stomper's" Cabernet 2012 Tasting Notes

"The nose has good lift offering up black currant and blackberry fruit with a touch of the varietal’s leafiness and a light mint element. Concentrated, yet quite lively in the palate with an abundance of ripe black fruits, there’s noted vibrancy from a nice undercurrent of acidity, while riper tannins add just the right amount of tension on the backend. Supple textured and bright with impressive fruit intensity and freshness on its medium fuller frame, this has good length on its fruit driven finish. Working this for three days the wine gained more flesh and mid palate breadth without losing any vibrancy and freshness. This is impressive and represents excellent value." - Winery Notes

Kathryn Kennedy "Lateral" Bordeaux Blend 2012 Tasting Notes

"Lateral is a medium ruby color with a dusty rose edge. It has inviting notes of tart cranberry, with excellent Cabernet Franc aromas of dried tobacco leaf combined with ripe Satsuma plums. Hints of cocoa powder, cream and caramel lie underneath. A very complex and compelling nose that follows through with a perfect entry. The mouthfeel is elegant and textured with a lean, feminine structure, a slight hint of oak and a compelling finish." - Winemaker Notes

Product Description

The Moillard family has been cultivating vines in Nuits-Saint-Georges since the French Revolution. The arrival of the railway in Nuits-Saint-Georges opened up new commercial opportunities and the Maison Moillard began its activity as wine merchants in 1850.
In 1870, Symphorien Moillard’s son died while serving with the French Army in Algeria. His sister, Jeanne Moillard, took over the family trade and continued the tradition of the Maison Moillard.
In 1873, she married Maurice Thomas, himself an owner of Burgundy vineyards.
From generation to generation, the Thomas family extended the properties, buying up precious plots and developing the trade.

In 1873, she married Maurice Thomas, himself an owner of Burgundy vineyards.
From generation to generation, the Thomas family extended the properties, buying up precious plots and developing the trade.

WOW: A Perfect Unity--Fisher Vineyards + Pinot Noir

WOW: Wine of the Week

A Perfect Unity: Fisher Vineyards + Pinot Noir!

Chandon Nautical Summer
Red wine lovers: Do NOT revolt!  ShopUncorked.com has a special summer wine selection for you as well: Fisher Vineyards "Unity" Pinot Noir.

The Fisher Vineyards "Unity" Cabernet has long been a favorite on ShopUncorked.com and we are pleased to offer another selection from world class winery!  Direct from Anderson Valley, this Pinot Noir is a palate pleaser!  Stock up for consumption now or with (yikes!) the holidays in mind!

Product Description

"Certain world-class wines are defined by a single vineyard source, made unique by its particular, singular environmental conditions including soil and climate... Others echo a broader range of tones reflective of several sites, carefully chosen and woven together demonstrating the art of blending wine produced from more than one site, estate or appellation. While Fisher Vineyards continues to build on the family's first generation successes that embrace the former philosophy, our second generation sets out to explore the later in UNITY." - Winery Notes

Fisher Vineyards "Unity" Pinot Noir 2013 Tasting Notes

"Our most exciting Pinot Noir vintage to date, 2013 was warmer than both 2011 and 2012 resulting in more projected, fruit driven aromatics and plush texture. Aromas of cherry, plum and a hint of citrus peel lift from the glass. The palate follows with beautifully balanced bramble fruit, rhubarb and cherry reduction, accented by notes of crème brulee and mocha. Boasting a lengthy finish, the wine closes with a savory component of dried herbs and harmonious acidity." - Winemaker Notes

WOW: Wine of the Week

Enter a New Bodega: Luis Canas Rioja Blanco 2013

Chandon Nautical Summer
The Summer isn't getting any cooler - in fact, in most place it has just begun!  What better to quench the thirst of wine drinkers than a crisp, bright and refreshing white wine?!

New to ShopUncorked.com is Bodega Luis Canas Rioja Blanco.  At UNDER $16 per bottle, this a Summer staple for even the most die-hard red wine drinkers!

Product Description

"The Cañas family has been growing grapes and producing wine to be sold in bulk for generations. Founder Luis Cañas was born in 1928, and it was in 1989 when his son, Juan Luis took over as general manager of the operation. Luis is no longer a young man, but still plays an active role in the winemaking process.
Today, the winery processes some 2 million kilos of grapes every year (166,666 cases). In recent years, the clear focus has become meticulous care of the vineyards. The winery owns or directly manages some 350 hectares of vines, a large majority of which are small parcels, many of which are very old - some more than 100 years of age, growing on nutrient-poor chalky clay soils. The careful management of 870 individual plots is what makes the difference. While not 100% organic, the winery takes an environmentally-friendly approach with minimal use of control agents." - Winery Notes

Bodega Luis Canas Rioja Blanco 2013 Tasting Notes

"Beautiful golden yellow, with bright lemony highly-luminous reflections. The nose is fine, with great elegance, combined with floral and fruity tones.  The palate is dry with a crisp acidity that gives its freshness and vivacity, a structured and tasty finish of ripe fruit." - Winemaker Notes
Blend: 90% Viura and 10% Malvasia

WOW: A "Hipster" Wine: Reinventing an OLD standard!

A "Hipster" Wine: Reinventing an OLD standard!

Chandon Nautical Summer
Introducing Fritz Mueller Wines!  These wines stormed onto the scene in 2009 as an effort to breathe new life into some old German varietals - many of which you may have never encountered.

A little history lesson: "When Herr Müller from Thurgau was growing this grape in the Rheingau region back in 1882, nobody had the slightest idea of just how insidiously this variety would later stab German winemaking in the back. Adapted to the local climate, the Müller-Thurgau matures quickly and produces refreshing wines every year, even when other more sun-loving varieties did not receive enough sun. With its reliably good flavor, the Müller-Thurgau quickly spread throughout the country – even topping the Riesling variety in the early 1970s.

In the 1980s, however, things started going downhill for the Müller. Many winemakers took advantage of the fact that the grape can produce high-yield harvests and peddled the variety off as inferior bulk wine. The world was flooded with cheap German Müller-Thurgau wines and blends thereof. "Characterless, dreadful, superfluous!" cried the wine experts. The reputation of German wine was thus completely ruined and Müller-Thurgau ended up at the top of the list of scorned varieties.

The important thing in the making thereof, is that only good grapes end up in a bottle of Fritz. Because only when ripe and healthy grapes are used, can Fritz naturally taste so fruity and vibrant as it does. And the bubbles that it receives on top of all that, make it even fresher. Fritz is not intended to be a semi-sparkling wine for the masses, but it should please everyone. Everyone, that is, who wants not only to philosophically sniff the glass in their hand, but would sometimes rather just drink from it – only without the headache, and without an empty wallet the morning after." - Winery Notes

Fritz Müller White NV Tasting Notes

"Light straw yellow with lovely green highlights. Fresh-fruity aromas of pear, apple and grapefruit. Mild and well balanced on the palate with exotic aromas and a delicate nutmeg tone. Sparklingly refreshing." - Winemaker Notes

Fritz Müller Rose NV Tasting Notes

"Bright pink with ruby highlights. Red fruit aromas such as red currant & raspberry. Vibrant citrus notes on the palate, fruit-driven with delicate spices and the dark berry aromas characteristic of these varieties. Pleasantly tingling." - Winemaker Notes

Product Description

"The love of farming and a passion for wine brought Tony Peju to the Napa Valley. A series of ideas - starting in his birthplace on the Caspian Sea, then France, England and eventually, Los Angeles -- created the Peju's Napa Valley winery. In 1982, Tony and his wife Herta purchased 30 acres of land in the Napa Valley with the magic ingredient - location. Neighboring vineyards in Rutherford included Robert Mondavi, Inglenook and Beaulieu. Situated between Highway 29 and the Napa River, the acreage included a 1900-era house and rambling vineyards, some 60 or more years old. Looking to the future, Tony and Herta have introduced their two daughters, Lisa and Ariana, to the workings of the wine business. Both of the young women are immersing themselves in all aspects of Peju Winery." - Winery Notes

Peju Province Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Tasting Notes

This Sauvignon Blanc jumps out of the glass—pineapple, passion fruit, grapefruit and lychee are all very prominent on the nose. The palate offers more lush fruit and bright acidity with notes of creamy lemon tart, guava and apricot with a fresh, clean finish.
