Product Description

"There seems to be a kernel to this wine that is reminiscent of how flavors come out of a lemon drop candy. It’s like you feel the hard candy in the center of your mouth, but the location where the flavors show themselves are in the dissolved, non-solid part like a halo.  It’s that kernel that replenishes the flavor pool.  This wine seems kind of like that (however with different flavors than a lemon-drop).  I’m excited about this wine in that it has the potential to make friends early on as well as to develop into something more interesting and complex in a graceful fashion for years to come.  Its message should echo for many years and as it does, it should change from the crystal-clarity of the initial message, gaining interest as it diffuses and resonates over time realizing a kind of self-harmony." - Winery Notes

Scherrer Pinot Noir 2010 Reviews

"Bright ruby-red. Smoky cherry and red berry aromas, with hints of licorice and spicecake in the background. Spicy and focused on entry, then deeper n the mid-palate, offering potent raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of succulent herbs. The smoky note comes back on the finish, which is taut, brisk and very persistent." - 92, International Wine Cellar

Scherrer Pinot Noir 2010 Tasting Notes

"While grown primarily in the sandy Goldridge soil, which tends to produce Pinot Noir with flavors of red fruits and orange peel, this wine also illustrates some of the deep, brooding black cherry character generally found in the region’s clay soils. It was bottled without fining or filtration, and should age gracefully for a handful of years. 680 cases produced." - Winery Notes

Product Description

"Château Blaignan is a fine estate of 97 hectares (240 acres) in the northern part of the Médoc. It has been planted with vine since the 14th century. There is nothing left today of the ancient fortress (seat of the Lords of Blaignan in the Middle-Ages, which gave its name both to the land and to the noble family who owned the manor), except for a few ruins next to the church in the old village of Blaignan. Pierre Merman, a protestant from a Dutch family that settled in Bordeaux in the 17th century, acquired the estate just after the French Revolution. His family and, especially, his daughter, Jeanne Marie Reine Peychaud, assisted by her husband Charles, turned "Taffard-Blaignan" into a model estate. They extended the property considerably, repaired the buildings and built a country mansion of the type known locally as a 'chartreuse.'The wine reached the envied rank of Cru Bourgeois in 1932, under the name 'Château Taffard de Blaignan.' In 2004, CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of Groupe Crédit Agricole, acquired Château Blaignan. An improvement plan was put together for the entire estate." - Winery Notes

Chateau Blaignan Cru Bourgeois 2012 Tasting Notes

"The wine is of an intense colour. The nose is fruity with pronounced notes of blackcurrant, black cherries and a hint of spice. Full bodied, Château Blaignan shows structure and velvet tannins on the palate, that make it a wine to drink young or to keep a few years in cellar (to be kept between 3 to 12 years)." - Winery Notes
Blend: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc
